The Maison du Souvenir welcomes those who wish to learn about the history of the massacre, ans shows Maillé, an ordinary village in France, before and during war : the drama, testimonies, renconstruction and memory.
Informations about international institutions and interference duty is expanded.
The exhibition is especially made up of archive documents and pictures, but also contains objects found into ruins or kept by families, and audio and video records.
This memory place is not a museum: it is a living place with visits set up by the association, “For the Memory of Maillé”, constitued by rescued people. They actively search for documents beside inhabitants and diffuse information beside visitors.
Specific animations (exhibitions, conferences…) will regularly be proposed in Maillé, such as other places, in France and foreign, on topics dealing with the Memory House.
A network with other memory places in France and Foreign will be an important element, suitable for its dynamism.
This new structure has 3 main goals :

– To be a teaching area on various topics, such as civilian population slaughter, yesterday, today and tomorow, as united thematics (history, sociology, rebuilding, international Institutions parts, Army part…)
– To be a research area on these same topics.
